In preparation for the beginning of the 2023 census, the National Population Commission (NPC) on Wednesday said it won't pose inquiries on religious association.
In an explanation on Wednesday by the Commission's Head of Public Affairs, Isiaka Yahaya, the Commission said the choice to remove religion alongside ethnicity from the evaluation poll was taken in light of the delicate idea of these issues inside the Nigerian country.
He likewise expressed that the need to save the statistics information from unnecessary debates and consideration will propel the NPC to stay away from questions verging on religion.
He noted,
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Commission wishes to state unequivocally that the 2023 Population and Housing Census will not canvass questions on religion and religious affiliations of respondents.”

The census activity is booked for May 3.
