The Reward of Waiting (Exposition of Psalm 102:13 & Habakkuk 2:1-3)

Bible References: Psalm 102:13; Psalm 69:35-36

Introduction:

The only reliable person that can set a time for man and make it happen at the set time is GOD - Numbers 23:19, Genesis 21:1, Heb 6:18.

But when God sets a time, there are events that man should take part in in order to actualize or witness the set time and the set time,

The Set Time for Mercy and favour that abounds in Zion are for those that:

🎯 Believe the One who has made the promise and believe in the promise he has made - 2 Chronicles 20:20, Psalm 9:10,

By believing in him, it means you:

1. Fear him and live a righteous life - Psalm 25:14, Psalm 4:5,

2. You Depend solely on him - 1 Peter 5:7, Proverbs 3:5-6, Isaiah 26:3; 2 Chro 26:5 & 15

🎯 OBEYED, OBEYS AND WILL OBEY - to obey is to pay attention to instructions and follow them accordingly (Deut. 28:1-2)

There's something unique about David that I love so much. (Read Psalm 119:6)

Then see the result in Psalm 91:4. There is a lot of benefits in obedience to God's work. It brings God to remembrance all the promises He has made for you.

🎯 CAN WAIT FOR IT (Hab 2:3) - God's timing is not the same as man's. Most times when God sets a time, it appears really far to man like it will not come. Abraham and Sarah were a good example of those who waited. God told Abraham he would give him a seed that will occupy the space of the world, in fact he said, his seed would be like the stars. But for 25 good years, there was nothing. God kept promising and Abraham kept waiting in anticipation.

Isaiah 30:18 says - blessed are those who wait; Lamentations 3:25-26 says - the Lord is good to those who wait;

In your waiting time, do these:

📍 Wait sensitively - be at the position where you will see it coming (Psalm 73:16-17)

📍 Wait prayerfully - Isaiah 62:6, 1 Thesis 5:17

📍 Wait attentively - Habakkuk 2:1b, Psalm 5:3, 2 Corinthians 13:3

📍 Wait in expectation - When you pray, you speak to God, but when you listen, you hear from him (Learn that from Job - Job 23:5-7, Job 42:2-6)

📍 Wait taking notes - Habakkuk 2:2. The beauty of writing is in bringing to remembrance. You cannot remember everything He will tell you when you wait for the set time, SO WRITE THEM DOWN.

📍 Lastly, for emphasy sake, wait BELIEVING - Believing in Him you has asked you to wait is the only thing that can make your waiting worth it - Habakkuk 2:3,

In Conclusion, waiting on God requires a lot of courage, but if you do it as though your life depends on it, as though there is no other option, like David did in Psalm 130:5-6, you will enjoy the fruit therefore. That is when He will Arise and Have Mercy on You at His Set Time.

However, the message of God's Set time, no matter how many times you hear it will not work for you if you do not know the God that has set the time. Hence, giving yourself to knowing him, accepting Him as your personal Lord and Saviour is the first principle to enjoying the Mercy and Favour that abounds in Zion - Psalm 24:3-5.

So if you are reading this this or listening to me but have not yet given your life to him, this is your own set time to make the right decision. Take the bold step of faith in confessing your sins to him and asking him to forgive you. Isaiah 1:18 says "even if your sins are as scarlet, if you can reason it with him, He will make as white as snow"

No matter how reddish or stained your life is, if you can truthfully confess to him and tell Him you are sorry, He will have Mercy on you.

PRAY WITH ME:

Lord Jesus Christ, grant me the grace to wait so that I can enjoy all the promises you have made for me. Help me not to seek help for myself, but to solely deepens on you in every of my dealings in life. (Amen)
